So I spent an hour on my new watercolor's background, and when the paper was wet enough that any further painting would come out blurred I painfully set it aside. It won't dry until morning.
Except that now it's calling to me. Calling. It says, 'Zalein, come paint me some more! Paint me, Zalein, come on! You know you want to!' Meanwhile I'm going, 'No, I can't! You're not ready for more details, and next session I want to start on the picture's subject! It's almost perfect now, but all finishing touches on the background can only be put on when the paper's dry and when I have the foggiest idea of how the subject's shading and coloring will turn out!' And it's going, '
Of course, it's still ignoring me and insisting, but after what I've just described is when the conversation just starts repeating itself.
